Temporomandibular Joint Pain

This is pain originating in the temporomandibular joint and the muscles that move it. It most often occurs while chewing, yawning, speaking, or clenching the teeth, and may be accompanied by joint clicking or limited mouth opening. The pain sometimes radiates to the temple, ear, face, or neck and may resemble otherheadache syndromes. The causes vary—joint overload, teeth grinding (bruxism), muscle muscle tension, and changes in the articular disc or other structures.
