Operative spinal pain syndrome (polymyelectomy syndrome)

This is back and/or limb pain that persists or recurs after spinal surgery. Causes can be varied: scar tissue around the nerve (epidural fibrosis), degeneration of adjacent spinal segments, pathology of the spinal joints, damage to the nerve, or incomplete removal of the underlying cause of the pain. Symptoms are managed by complex treatment with specific drugs, physiotherapy, interventional procedures and radiofrequency therapy.
