Central pain following a stroke

This is central neuropathic pain caused by damage to the pain-processing areas of the brain resulting from a stroke. It most often occurs on the side of the body opposite to where the stroke occurred; it may feel burning, aching, or stabbing, or be accompanied by extreme sensitivity to cold, touch, or otherother stimuli. This pain may not appear immediately, but ratherover several weeksor or monthus after the the stroke.
