Scar pain

This pain syndrome is classified as chronic postoperative pain. Such pain is felt in the area of the scar tissue following surgery, trauma, or a burn. It can be localized, burning, or stabbing, accompanied by a sensation of tightness, itching, or increased sensitivity to touch. Such pain can persist for months or years after surgery. In some cases, the pain is caused not only by the scar itself but also by an irritated nerve within or near the scar.
