Chronic perineal pain

This is a persistent pain in the perineal region that may be associated with tension in the pelvic floor muscles, nerve irritation, or urological, gynecological, or proctological conditions. The pain may be burning, aching, or pressing, and may intensify when sitting, urinating, having a bowel movement, or during sexual intercourse. In some patients, no single cause can be identified.
