Dereferential pain

This is neuropathic pain that occurs when the transmission of sensory impulses to the central nervous system is interrupted or significantly reduced due to damage to a nerve, nerve roots, the spinal cord, or the brain. It can occur following limb amputation, nerve root avulsion, spinal cord injury, or a stroke. The pain is most often burning, stabbing, or shooting, and is frequently accompanied by numbness, sensory changes, or increased sensitivity.
